Tehran Index is not affiliated with the Tehran Stock Exchange (TSE) and publishes no securities index of its own. Exchange closing prices shown for tracked listed companies are public reference data (TSETMC / IFB), not a market-data product. It is an independent research platform covering Iran’s innovation economy: startups, technology companies, venture capital activity, and digital markets.
01What we do
Tehran Index maps Iran's innovation economy through structured company profiles, sector analysis, and verified market signals — all in English, built on verifiable public sources. Founder profiles and an investor directory are in active development and not yet published. The focus is the companies, sectors, and market dynamics shaping one of the world's least documented digital economies.
02Why it exists
Iran's technology market is fragmented, opaque, and largely undocumented in English. Structured data that would be trivial to find for any European or Southeast Asian startup ecosystem does not exist for Iran — not because the market is small, but because no one has built the infrastructure to collect, verify, and present it properly. Tehran Index is that infrastructure.

04Editorial standards
Every published profile, signal, and claim carries a source link or is explicitly marked as unverified. We do not publish estimated funding amounts, guessed founding teams, or translated company names without verification. If we are uncertain, we say so. Numbers are checked against originals. Tehran Index is an edited publication: nothing publishes automatically, every record passes the desk's editorial gate before it appears, and the desk stands behind — and publicly corrects — what it publishes.
The research desk
Tehran Index is an independent research organization. The desk runs continuous monitoring of Persian and English primary sources — exchange filings, corporate registries, company disclosures, and executive statements on the record. Every published record passes a human verification gate and carries its source and evidence state; corrections are published, never silent. The desk is supported by a network of contributors and sector specialists, and was founded by Mehdi Pirooznia after more than a decade operating inside Iran’s technology market — Rocket Internet’s Bamilo (Iran’s first large-scale e-commerce operation), Sheypoor, Chilivery, Wego, and Digikala Group — and it holds every published claim to the operator’s standard: if you cannot show the source, you do not publish the claim.

The founder has previously worked at companies Tehran Index covers, including within Digikala Group. Coverage of those companies is held to exactly the same public-source standard as all other coverage and relies only on publicly available information — no non-public or insider knowledge is used or published.
